DON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Recently, I have looked at this phenomenon of expecting the government to do this for us and do that for us as a complete hoax. One day, while we were still in the University, in a lecture hall called Industrial Lab in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I remember hearing my lecturer, Professor Ogbonna (A professor of Industrial Microbiology) say that in the days of his fathers, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Co. who were in government and by extension in the leadership class were to blame for the societal problems then. Invariably, his father and those in that generation blamed the then president. Today, from what he said, his age mates are the ones in the National Assemply and even in Aso Rock doing one thing or the other and we still vehemently blame them for our problems. Then his conclusion, fight your own fight and don't let government disappoint you. My own submission is that when you fight your own fight, you will find yourself being attentive to your truest self and the most creative realm of your existence. This way, you have no one to blame but yourself and you can trust, this will boost your productivity.
In our day to day life, we sometimes trust too much that those we love will fight our fight; that our parents will do this for us, that our uncles will do that for us, that our aunties will come to our rescue bla...bla...bla!
Often times, when we think in this way, we are easily disappointed, not because those who disappointed us did so willingly but never forget, they are humans. They have their own shortcomings too. Just as we have sometimes failed people, so do people fail us at some points. You will be disappointed if you trust in man. Trust in God, that’s the way forward! My dad always reminds me of what he read in one of Shakespeare's works (though I confess that I don't even know which of Shakespeare's books that said it) and it says, "Do not presume too much upon my love for I may do that you may be sorry for." My father says this to remind us that those we love can sometimes fail us or even do things that might be shocking, hence we should have some sort of shock absorber to cushion the effect of any such unexpected disappointment.
Friends, trust in God and you will not be disappointed. Don't trust in your pastor too much, he is human, he can fail at some point, don't trust that the government will deliver your expectations to you, those there are humans, they can fail (and being politicians, they even fail and lie faster). This is not to say that people cannot help you, they surely can and God can even help you through people but when you put all your trust in their help, they may rubbish your hope. I’m not saying you should suspect everyone who comes your way. There’s a place for trusting people in our day to day activities but make some allowances for some frailties often associated with humanity. This will help you to learn tolerance for God tolerates us in our occasional shortcomings and even had to send His son for our redemption
Work; let your work speak for you. God will bless the work of your hands overtime. Stop running helter-skelter, look within, the solution could be nearer than you ever could imagine. Believe in yourself, believe in your God and stay focused and with time, your light will shine.
Be Positive, Be Courageous, Be Wise!
One Love!.
